We are not related to the Ten Boom family. Unfortunately, the Ten Boom blood line ended with Corrie when she passed in 1983. However, Corrie did not shy away from making a family of her own as she was traveling. In fact, that is how our family came to know Corrie. She would often visit them in what Corrie called her “Emerald Coast Hiding Place” in Destin, FL! It was here that our Mamma Fran and Papa Mike became really close friends with Corrie and started to call each other family. So much so, Corrie had her own room in their home and they actually went through a hurricane together! When Corrie passed away, she passed on many of her possessions down to our family, but the most impactful thing she passed down were her stories. Or what we call “Corrie Stories.”
In short, our coffee is not grown in Israel. Our friends at Agrocafe are headquartered in Israel and use special Israeli technology to help coffee farmers around the world. Our coffee is grown in countries such as Colombia, Guatemala, Ethiopia, and much more! We do however have a small coffee plantation in the Valley of Elah in Israel that is being used as an experiment for the technology.
Specialty coffee is coffee that is scored as an 84+ in the global coffee rankings. These scores are a reflection based on the quality of the coffee. Here at Ten Boom, all of our coffee is specialty coffee! We want to provide the best quality coffee for all of our friends to drink.
Yes! The very heart of Ten Boom Coffee is to give back to our communities and to do good. On top of supporting our coffee growers, we give a percentage of our profits to Passages Israel to help equip and train future Ten Booms!
Organically grown means that our coffee is grown and processed using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Working with Agrocafe means that we get our hands in the soil and are able to provide coffee from our own farms, to your cup! This means we control the farming practices and the relationships with our farmers! No toxins. No pesticides. No added chemicals.
